The Mitsubishi MR-J2-200CT is a 2.0kW servo amplifier from Mitsubishi Electric's MR-J2 Series, distinguished from the standard MR-J2-200A pulse train input variant by its built-in positioning controller. This makes the CT model a genuinely self-contained motion control solution for a broad range of industrial automation tasks.
While standard servo amplifiers require an external controller (PLC, motion controller, or CNC) to generate position commands, the MR-J2-200CT houses its own positioning logic. It can store up to 16 pre-programmed target positions in the amplifier's internal point table, then trigger each position via contact input signals from a simple PLC digital output or relay—eliminating the need for pulse train generators or complex motion programming.
This architecture represents the MR-J2 CT series' defining advantage in cost-sensitive automation applications. Dedicated indexing tables, rotary actuators with multiple positions, and conveyor systems requiring precise stopping points are ideal applications where the MR-J2-200CT eliminates the need for dedicated positioning controllers.

The MR-J2-200CT's positioning capability operates from a point table stored in the amplifier's non-volatile memory. Each of the 16 point table entries defines a target position (in encoder pulses or user-defined units), movement speed, and acceleration/deceleration ramp parameters.
During operation, the controller selects which point table entry to execute by activating contact inputs from the machine's PLC or relay panel. The amplifier reads the selected point number, executes the move to the corresponding position, and signals completion through a digital output contact.
For single-axis applications or simple multi-axis machines where axes operate independently, the MR-J2-200CT's built-in positioning eliminates the need for dedicated motion controllers entirely, creating a streamlined three-level hierarchy: PLC → MR-J2-200CT → servo motor.
The 250Hz speed frequency response of the MR-J2-200CT's velocity control loop defines the amplifier's ability to track rapid speed command changes. This specification determines how aggressively the servo can reject load disturbances and follow velocity profiles without overshoot or instability.
At 250Hz response, the MR-J2-200CT can reject load torque disturbances occurring faster than approximately 4ms, providing stiff mechanical response in applications with cutting forces, material resistance, or friction impulses that create rapid load variations.
The MR-J2-200CT includes two serial communication interfaces serving different purposes:
